|
Singer/Saxophonist/Songwriter
Extraordinaire Terry Hanck hails from Chicago, Illinois where, as a youngster,
he was heavily influenced by the blues, soul and jazz music of the late
1950’s and early 1960’s . Around 1965, Terry moved to California where
he has been perfecting his talents ever since. In 1977 Terry started a
ten-year stint with the Elvin Bishop group, traveling around the world
and learning valuable lessons about the music business, performing on
stages large and small, and most importantly, letting the good times roll.
Bishop, recognizing a great talent, often shared the spotlight with Hanck,
whose ease on stage and rapport with his audiences quickly garnered him
a reputation as a dynamic and powerful front man.

| So much
so, in fact, that in 1987, Terry set out on his own (with the encouragement
of numerous media and music industry personnel). By this time his music
had picked up elements of New Orleans gumbo, Kansas City jump, and East
Bay funk. Today, Terry draws on a vast repertoire of songs, many of his
own, and his exciting, energetic performances continually spotlight an
artist at the top of his craft, leading a top-notch band (Terry has very
high standards) through an all-killer, no-filler blend of American music,
firmly rooted in the blues and R&B, but certainly not stuck there. His 30+
years in the music business have brought Terry Hanck into a variety of
musical circles. From the roadhouses of California to the Superdome in
New Orleans, from San Francisco to Chicago, New York, Europe, Australia
and Japan. |
Terry has been on stage with almost every big name in the industry
including Elvin Bishop, Etta James, Bonnie Raitt, Steve Miller, Albert
Collins, Robert Cray, Charlie Musselwhite and the Neville Brothers, just
to name a few. He has shared the bill with such notables as B.B. King,
Buddy Guy, Ray Charles, Tower of Power, Albert King, Dr. John, Bobby “Blue”
Bland, and artist as varied as The Grateful Dead, Linda Ronstadt, and
the Allman Brothers. The list goes on and on. In short, Hanck is a performer
of such talent, confidence and virtuosity the he can hold his own at any
time or anywhere. Hanck’s numerous festival appearances include the San
Francisco Blues Festival, Santa Cruz Blues Festival, Sacramento, Eureka,
Fresno, Shasta, Monterey Blues Festival, Holland’s famous Utrecht Blues
estafet, Switzerland’s Luzerner Blues Session, Noway’s Notodden Blues
Festival.
