Pressrelease Myhrens DAM
Vocalist and harp-player Rune Myhren started his musical carreer in 1990. Myhren is
inspired by great harp-players like John Lee “Sonny Boy 1” Williamsson, Rice “Sonny Boy 2” Miller and
George "Harmonica" Smith. With a mix of these genres Myhren has throughout the last 14 years tried to
adapt his own style.
Myhren has toured and shared stage with bluesartists like Bob Margolin, James Harman, Snooky Pryor,
Mel Brown, Mark Hummel, Gary Primich, RJ Mischo, Billy Branch, Terry Hanck, and Junior Watson.
It was the friendship towards some of these artists that brought him over to San Francisco in September
2003 with his new project - "Myhrens Dam"- to record his new CD – ”Sampled Minds”. The CD was successfully
released in may-2004.
When the name ”Myhrens Dam” is chosen, that is mainly based on Myhrens wish to bring Norwegian and American
music-friends together for a meeting in a cross-cultural spirit – featuring artists like; RJ Mischo, Garth Webber,
June Core and Kedar Roy from the US and Håkon Høye, Espen Liland, Rune Endal, Ulf Lauridsen, Eirik Bergene and
co-producer Loren Fagen from Norway. The title - “Sampled Minds” – is chosen by the fact that Myhren has himself
written, arranged and produced 6 of the songs on this CD. Songs like ”Moonshine Whiskey” and ”Victims Of Circumstance”
is taken from real happenings in Myhrens life, and the song ”Suicide Bomber” is written based on the political landscape
in global terrorism.
For festivals and larger venues the band will be:
Rune Myhren (vocal/harp) – Glenn H. Gran (guitar) – Loren Fagen (bass) – Ulf Lauridsen (drums)
Myhren is also used to Touring on his own and hook up with different national bands that knows their way around the blues.
"Sampled Minds" is distributed through:
Crosscut Records (France, Belgium, Germany), Blaze Records (Scandinavia) and Pacific Blues (USA)
