James Harman

James Harman is born 8 June 1946, Anniston, Alabama, USA. One of the leading white harmonica players on America's west coast, Harman's love of the instrument was instilled in him by his father. As a youngster in Alabama, James played with a local blues musician called Radio Johnson, and bought R&B records. By the age of 16 he was leading his own band. In 1970 he moved to California and had to abandon music for some years due to health problems. However, he did not refrain from playing music for long, and in the 80s he made acclaimed recordings for the Rivera and Rhino labels. Harman is a fine singer and harmonica player whose approach to the blues is one of fun and enjoyment.

Back in 1984 through 1987, James Harman went into the studio and with help from his band and several other cohorts, laid down 53 tracks of some of the finest Blues ever committed to tape. In 1988 Harman got international exposure when his song – “Kiss Of Fire” was in soundtrack for the film “The Accused”, starring Jodie Foster.
James is a consummate connoisseur of that culinary creation we lovingly refer to as simply, Bar-B-Q. James serves up his Blues like his buddy, Chef Fred Burrell, dishes up his cuisine – greazy, heavy on thesauce, and oh-so-tasty. Mo’ na’kins, please!Harman’s main influence is Rice Miller (Sonny Boy Williamson II) and below you will find Harman’s outstanding Discography of CD releases and throughout this years he has been cooperating with a selection of great musicians like: Freddy King, “Big Mama” Thornton, T-Bone Walker, “Big” Joe Turner, Hollywod Fats, Junior Watson and Kid Ramos.
